How Venus Retrograde Impacts Your Love Life
If you’ve read my previous post Venus Retrograde 2021-2022: The Do's and the Don'ts Survival Guide, you know Venus Retrograde is just around the corner (December 19 - January 29th to be exact). In this post I’d like to delve a little deeper into how Venus Retrograde influences romance (specifically falling in love).
One of my favorite Astrology Authors is Carol Rushman. She explains it so well in her book “The Art of Predictive Astrology.”
According to Rushman:
Venus stationing to go retrograde or direct is a time when love energy really intensifies. A relationship can be very important and meaningful if you meet someone and start the relationship when Venus is stationing and going direct. The love energy is deep and profound and often you can experience love at first sight when you meet during this time. This is the one time when you may experience intense, magical love. However, if you meet someone when Venus is slowing down to go retrograde (but still direct), you can have a hot and heavy romance, but you will have a problem later, when Venus goes retrograde. There will be a big shift in the love consciousness of the relationship.
If you start a relationship during the period when Venus is retrograde, feelings of love are never expressed comfortably or easily. During the period Venus is retrograde, existing love relationships can be tested. Communication of love feelings can be misconstrued and/or misunderstood. People tend to be more insecure in love.
Rushman explains that marrying during a Venus Retrograde is one of the worst things you can do to your relationship. She once had a client that dated a man for 8 years, and married while both Venus and Mercury were retrograde. The couple ended up separated and divorced 4 months later.
While not the greatest for starting love relationships Venus retrograde is incredibly positive for creativity. Many artists are able to create the most wonderful masterpieces, and writers produce their best books. Even if you don’t consider yourself an “artist,” do something artistic. Create, imagine and express yourself! There is no “right” way to make art, it just has to come from your heart <3
The one key thing to remember about love is that – like art – it can be expressed in many different ways.
Just as two painters can have very different styles, two couples may be in equally healthy and loving relationships, but those relationships can look drastically different to an outside observer.
What’s most important, however, is that the exchange is being appreciated and reciprocated. During the Planet of Love’s Retrograde motion, let’s re-assess how we give and receive love, embrace our creative spirit, and create art from a place of love, whatever that may look like to you <3
